Like to find stuff? Like to explore? Learn to read a map and use a compass while walking in Avalon Park & Preserve on Long Island's North Shore. GeoClub is sponsoring a day of orienteering with the Long Island Orienteering Club. If you have transportation you can meet us at the Park at 11:00AM (see map). If you don't have transportation you can take a LIRR train to Stony Brook and Tom Walter will drive people the 1.5 miles to the park (and back). If you have a car and can drive people, please let me know as soon as possible. There is an 8:51AM train leaving Penn Station arriving at Stony Brook at 10:41AM. There's a 4:17PM train leaving Stony Brook to Penn Station. What to bring: bring a day pack with food and snacks and drink. Dress in layers. If the weather is going to be rainy we may cancel the outing. All participants must fill out the Student Info Form and Release Form and return to Tom Walter by Friday November 6th, 4:00PM. |
